I guess not. It looks like the government has reached some sort of deal to obtain compensation for leaky schools. Exactly who that compensation is coming from we don’t know, not to mention any other details about this deal.

On the surface I really don’t see any problem with this, if the government owns the schools they are entitled to seek compensation as is the case with condo owners.

Having said that, I do think it is the governments responsibility to help it citizens, and in this case if they are able to protect themselves they should be able to help condo owners do the same. After all they were partially responsible for the inadequate building code that contributed to this problem. I understand that the deal they have reached may need to be confidential in order to have been able to reach it, but it does put them in an interesting situation as they have appeared to put their interests ahead of the countless leaky condo owners.

As always, things are never quite as they seem so we will probably never know the whole truth. One thing is for sure though, something does not make sense when it seems to be almost impossible for leaky condo owners to win any judgements against developers who built faulty products, where is the justice?
