Another Vancouver Area Condo Development Set to Use Geothermal Energy

January 31st, 2009

A proposed North Vancouver Condo Development is looking to use geothermal energy. This is something that is relatively new in residential construction and comes with an initial cost, but long run there are considerable cost savings and environmental savings.
There is one other building I am aware of in Burnaby that uses the same technology. Verdant, [...]

Vancouver Developer Cancels Project, Will Build Rentals Instead!

January 24th, 2009

Well just another sign that the market is changing, Wall Financial has decided to cancel the development of condos on its False Creek site and instead move ahead with plans for a rental building instead.
They feel that there are enough condos currently to handle to demand out there, so they will add to the rental [...]

Buyers Beware, Condo Developers May Sue if You Don’t Complete.

January 23rd, 2009

Well this really is not a surprise, but it is just something that we have not really seen much of before. A couple in North Vancouver is now involved in a Lawsuit with a developer for not completing on a pre-sale contract. The Developer is going after 7 in total right now. Read full details [...]

Millennium Speaks re Vancouver 2010 Olympic Village!

January 21st, 2009

OK, I was supposed to stop talking about this topic, but I think it is only fair to give Millennium side of the story. As with most things, there are two sides to every story and there is usually some truth to both of them.
I will say that this article makes Millennium look better than [...]

Wood Frame Condos Could Grow Higher in BC!

January 16th, 2009

I found an interesting article today about the fact the the BC Government is looking at changing the Building code to allow wood frame building to be built 6 stories high rather than the current 4 stories.
This would certainly make it possible to build certain buildings that would not have been viable before with concrete [...]

Vanouver 2010 Olympic Village, $875 Million, Not $100 Million

January 9th, 2009

$100 Million to $875 Million, Thanks Millennium.
Well interesting how the story has changed. I know there were reasons that the details could not be released before but it is quite surprising how misleading the info that was available was. Looks like the city could be on the hook for $875Million if Millennium can’t come up [...]

Property Developers to be Ranked in Dubai

January 7th, 2009

What a great idea, looks like the government is going to undertake an official way to rank property developers in Dubai. With all the recent turmoil in the real estate market and with developers, this seems like a good start. Condoadvisory.com offers a great place for people to rate and review developers based on their [...]

Slow Condo Sales May Have a Bright Spot For Renters

December 22nd, 2008

There is no question that condo sales have slowed significantly in recent months and many are concerned about what the future has in store.
As usual, there is always two sides to every story and the positive side to this one is that developers are starting to look at developing rental condos again. It was only [...]

Update on Millennium in Nanaimo

December 19th, 2008

Looks like time is running out for Millennium to get its act together in Nanaimo to start the hotel complex beside the new convention centre. City may pull the project form Millennium if they don’t meet looming deadlines.
Just a thought, but maybe Millenium want to be axed to get out of an obligation they no [...]

Condo Devlopments Adding Child Care Space

December 17th, 2008

It seems that more and more condo developments in downtown Vancouver may be adding childcare spaces. There is one specifically that will be opening next year, Atelier on Robson. I think this is great for a city that is in desperate need of more spaces for childcare.
I find it interesting in the Georgia Straight article [...]
